Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a low income, high poverty school district where 100% of the students in the school receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite coming from a disadvantaged neighborhood, the students come to school very happy and very eager to learn every day.
The students that I have in my classroom that I service have Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities.
They all vary with different strengths and abilities, and they need support to help to communicate and function socially with others.
My Project
In our Pre K classroom the students are actively learning everyday. Our class is desperately in need of new manipulative, and seating for hands on learning. Developing fine motor skills is an important part of learning in a pre school classroom.
Many of our learning activity kits that we already have in the classroom are very old and is missing many pieces where the kit is unusable.
One of the manipulatives that we are asking for, the Float and Find Alphabet Bubbles, the students will have a fun and interactive way of learning the alphabets, and also they will be able to develop their fine motor skills. Soft seating is needed for the students who sit on the floor during the center time activities.
