All of my students are joyful and eager to learn. They participate in STEM buddies, helping younger students make observations and explore new materials; they learn new languages and make connections with their peers; they demonstrate perseverance as they work through problems without giving up. Students in my classroom and at my school are diverse in their socio-economic status, home languages, personal experiences and educational needs.
My students need calming lights to help them focus and learn in our classroom.
As my students work to better themselves, I strive to provide the best educational environment possible. These additional materials will help me create a calm and supportive classroom environment for all my students.
My Project
There is a lot of research about Trauma Informed Care, and creating a calming and welcoming environment for all students at school. The fluorescent lights in our classroom are too bright and overwhelming, causing my students to be over-stimulated which impairs their ability to focus and learn throughout the day.
The string lights and lamp will create a soft glow in our classroom and the diffuser will facilitate a calming environment, helping students focus on their learning.
My students frequently ask to work with the lights off or partially off, wanting to write or read from only the light coming from our windows, which isn't enough. I want my students to feel comfortable in our classroom with calm lighting that helps them focus and learn.
