My students need a soda stream to learn entrepreneurship in a real-world setting. With the soda streams, I also requested pumps in order to separate the syrups for the students.
My students are on the lower side of the socioeconomic ladder. Living in the western part of the state, there are not as many opportunities for my students to thrive. My students seem to struggle to connect with the subject matter because the classroom is not set up in a lab environment.
In the eyes of the state, our school has a Title III status that our district has been struggling to overcome.
I teach Business Education at a chapter 74 program which means it is in a vocational setting. I share a space with my colleague in a 24'x 42' classroom turned into a shop/lab space for our students split right down the middle with a partition.
In attempting to educate my students in the world of business it is definitely a challenge for them as the majority of them become easily distracted due to the instruction occurring only 5 feet away from them.
My Project
Students learn how to create, market, and sell soda that they make. This is an entrepreneurship project in which they work together as a team and give each person a role to make their company successful.
Not only will they learn how to make soda but also how to design and create their own soda label.
They also will create social media accounts for their brand.
Students also learn about start up funds and the financials that go behind starting a business. They will also have to make projections based on marketing surveys they create. Students really enjoy having a tangible product to take home after the assignment is complete.
Having soda stream machines will overall cutdown on the cost of purchasing sparkling/seltzer water annually.
