This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our girl's athletic program has a tradition of excellence, especially in the classroom. Our female athletes strive to excel in all they do. I teach at a Title I school district in Houston, TX where 80% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch, but they don't let that hold them back!

Our student-athletes have been out in the community helping fellow classmates and neighbors recover from Hurricane Harvey.

They have shown resilience in their school spirit and are excited to build on their experiences.

My Project

Many of our student-athletes don't know the importance of proper footwear, including socks, for when they run cross-country and track. We have been working on providing them proper running shoes, but they are unable to buy the high quality running socks that they need to look, feel, and be successful.

Socks are a vital piece of equipment that's often overlooked by our athletes.

By providing them high quality running socks, we are helping them prevent running injuries. We are also helping them with their self-esteem and confidence by fulfilling a basic running need.
