This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My high school special education students in a functional life skills and vocational training program with varying social and cognitive skills consistently need explicit teaching, facilitation, and practice to develop their own social and emotional well-being. Using games and interactive materials can help improve self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Using fun, engaging materials can help spark conversations, build emotional vocabulary, and keep children engaged as they learn about their feelings and those of others. By providing consistent explicit teaching and practice of skills we hope to improve reciprocity, empathy, friendships/relationships, and social problem-solving within the educational and vocational environments.
