The students at QES are a very diverse group. We have many economically disadvantaged students and students with limited English proficiency. All of the students are eligible for free lunch and many take advantage of food donations provided for non-school days. Despite this, they come to school daily eager to learn and eager to improve. Physical Education is a vital part of student success. Being active, learning healthy habits, and developing coping skills are essential and transfer to classroom success. Students grow socially and emotionally as well with a constant emphasis on skills to help them persevere on a daily basis. A strong physical education program helps improve students’ academic success.
My Project
Physical Education is such a vital component of a well-rounded education. It helps students' overall health, emotional well being, and teaches so many vital skills for lifelong learning. The benefits of physical education expand far beyond the PE class. When we return to school we will need to follow social distance guidelines for the foreseeable future. I need whiteboards to hang around the gym to create stations for students to work at. This way they will be able to be active while maintaining a distance to keep everyone safe. Please help me keep students active at this unprecedented time!
