This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school district is located in an area where technology is limited and because of this my students miss out on some activities that we are required to cover. A large percentage of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. We live in an area that is connected to the ups and downs of the Oil Field, and due to this we have students that live on both ends of the spectrum of coming from everything or having nothing.

My Project

In these trying times during the pandemic virtual PE has become an essential part of school curriculum. As a PE teacher I am now faced with the task of finding new ways to help my students (both in school and virtual) find ways to stay active and stay in shape. Due to my districts limited technology capabilities it has been a challenge to not only serve the virtual students, but also find ways to allow my in person students the opportunity to get active while limiting contact among students. With access to new technology I will be able to introduce my students to new workouts via Video and also allow my students to experience new activities that we have not been able to do before such as dance routines or circuit workouts that we can do both in class and virtually.
