My students need more books to expose them to concepts around social studies! We have some books but they are unable to read them. I am trying to encourage reading and foster independence through exploration.
I teach 24 students from very diverse backgrounds. Some of my students were born here in the United States, but some come from other countries such as Albania, Russia, Spain, China and Poland.
Some of my students are also Hurricane Sandy survivors.
During the hurricane our school and families lost their homes and personal belongings. Even though it has been 5 1/2 years we're still building them back up.
They are eager to learn and love getting new supplies delivered!
These books will help my students learn about concepts in Social Studies. These books are on their level so it would make it easier for them to explore and learn new concepts working in groups and with partners.
My littles explorers love when they can read the words in their books!
The books that I choose cover the 4 main concepts taught in our social studies unit for the year. Adding these books to our library will give the students confidence and excitement when they pick up the books. They will be able to read and share with each other!
