My students need efficient assessments to drive IEP goals related to pragmatic language and tools to help them achieve those goals.

Imagine you are in a foreign country, and you do not know the social conventions. This is how my students feel day to day. They find it difficult to figure out how to act in even the simplest of social interactions. They have a desire to interact but figuring out how is their challenge.
My students attend a self-contained special education high school in New York.
They have diverse communication needs ranging from verbal communicators to nonverbal communicators using AAC. Their school environment is nurturing, supportive, and inviting. With an environment like that, the need and desire to communicate and socialize is great.
We are asking for an assessment called Pragmatic Language Skills Inventory (PLSI). It tests important areas of pragmatic language, especially for students who are young adults. * Personal Interaction Skills, assesses initiating conversation, asking for help, participating in verbal games, and using appropriate nonverbal communicative gestures. * Social Interaction Skills, assesses knowing when to talk and when to listen, understanding classroom rules, taking turns in conversations, and predicting consequences for one's behavior. * Classroom Interaction Skills, assesses using figurative language, maintaining a topic during conversation, explaining how things work, writing a good story, and using slang appropriately. We are also asking for a CheapTalk 4. This device will help nonverbal students engage in asking questions, commenting, and initiating conversations using AAC.
Please help my diverse group of students make friends by helping me assess them properly and working on goals that will help them become more efficient communicators through verbal and nonverbal means.
