My Project

My class is full of wonderful, witty, and well-rounded special education students. This project will help me to provide them with the best possible school experience, filled with learning and fun!

Covid 19 was a huge challenge for many of my students, and they would benefit greatly from additional support.

Specifically, many of my students struggle with social anxiety and emotional regulation after self-isolation and virtual learning. Due to this, my students are experiencing delays in some key social-emotional growth areas. My cart includes organization tools such as clear organizer drawers to store classroom supplies which will help students in developing executive functioning skills and self-direction in using classroom resources. The cart also has pens, paint, dry-erase pocket sleeves, scissors, and other tools to help them work creatively with one another during their classroom community building times such as advisory and homeroom. Activities like painting with friends and collage boards help my students learn to work together and reflect on their own creative ideas. Also, I have also selected multiple resources from Teachers Pay Teachers which I will use to generate a new and more structured social/emotional learning curriculum in my classroom.

COVID 19 has also impacted my student's learning greatly in the areas of fluency, reading comprehension, and writing. My students were especially at risk of regression during virtual learning because they all recurve special education services. I have selected tools such as the products from Teachers Pay Teachers and story cue cards that will help my students in reading and reading comprehension.

In conclusion, the resources I have selected will help my students develop their reading comprehension and vocabulary as well as their social and emotional development, ensuring that my students develop the skills they need to become lifelong learners.
