My students need books and activities to help them develop socially and emotionally. Students who better understand themselves and others and can get along with peers are more likely to succeed in the classroom.
Our students live in a rural area, and they are pleasant, hard-working, and inspirational young people.
Families are very supportive of their students, yet in our rural area where good paying jobs can be hard to come by, families can often be stretched thin trying to provide for basic needs.
Over half of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunches.
Our staff works tirelessly to help students succeed because our students are worth it! We do all we can to help students grow in academics and social and emotional development.
My Project
All students can grow socially and emotionally when given learning opportunities in the classroom. Some students may need additional learning opportunities.
The Social and Emotional Learning Kit will provide learning opportunities for small groups of students to learn about empathy, about how to get along, and about how to peacefully solve conflicts with peers.
The books will be used in small groups and in classroom lessons to help all students increase their social success. The magnetic blocks will provide opportunities for students to practice the social skills of sharing, cooperation, teamwork, and conflict resolution while having fun creating and building structures.
