My Students

I am a second year teacher in Connecticut. As a high poverty school district, the potential to do great things is here, but the funding is not. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with ninety percent of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. My students come from different backgrounds where English is not always their primary language.

I am a second year teacher.

I teach 24 tenacious first graders. I have twenty-four students in my class all eager to learn every day. We are midway through the school year and learning new things every day.

My Project

It’s never to early to start planning for next year! This year I was able to bring Scholastic News to my class and it was such a hit I’d like to get it for my class next year! Scholastic News is a wonderful magazine! Every month we get 4 issues that study current events or monthly holidays. This magazine is a great addition to the curriculum and is very informative. Your donation would go towards getting 24 subscriptions, one for each student. It will also give access to Scholastic new websites for addition activities and videos. Also, in the project I am asking for colored pencils to be used with my current class and next years. Thank you!
