Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am in my first year as a teacher and every day I get the opportunity to serve 22 incredible 3rd graders. I teach alongside a teacher that is a pro, Ms. Appleton, and 23 wonderful 3rd graders. At our school, students show excellence in every way and excel every day!

We got our room all set up for the year thanks to donations and our library is finally looking happy BUT we are trying to support our students with a robust Social Studies curriculum.

This is for an approved textbook that will be invaluable for our student's learning.

My Project

At this moment, our district does not have a curriculum for social studies and the options are limited. This means that, in a lot of classrooms, social studies is not consistently taught. My grade level teacher and I do not want that for our classrooms. So, we are really hoping to get the money to provide an incredible social studies book for each of our wonderful students this year and in the future.

Please help us provide a more robust curriculum for students that deserve to learn about our state.
