Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Awe-inspiring, hardworking, unique, vivacious. These are a few words I use to describe my students. I teach in an inner city middle school where the majority of my students are African American. 100% percent of our student body receives free and reduced priced lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but there is one thing we all have in common. When they enter my classroom we are a community, and a family.

Although our classroom is in the center of the city, my students love to travel the world through books and technology.

Each DonorsChoose.org project exposes my students to more of the world around them and helps inspire them to achieve!

My Project

As most of the country is shut down right now, my students are busy learning from home. I teach 6th grade Ancient Civilizations. Many of our in-class work are hands on stations and projects. These don’t translate well digitally. I am requesting a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card in order to purchase digital content that is compatible with Google Classroom. When purchasing this content, I can adapt it to the needs of my students and post it directly online for them to complete. Many of the creators on Teachers Pay Teachers work hard to create highly engaging, interactive materials, which is exactly what my students need right now! Thank you for helping me provide new content to help my students now and in the future!
