Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students these days are so connected to technological devices like their phones and gaming systems - my students are no different. They love any opportunity we have that incorporates technology in the classroom. There is also more and more of a push in the field of education to incorporate technology and research in the classroom.
However, not all students have equal access to proper technology.
My school serves a very diverse community, where students not only come from different cultural backgrounds, but also financial backgrounds. Some of my students struggle to complete assignments and projects due to a lack of access to technology at home.
By having these laptops readily available in the classroom, my students will all have the equal opportunity to not only complete their assignments, but also to participate in the enriching activities we do in class.
My Project
Thank you for choosing to support my students by donating to my project! I am excited for the new opportunity my students have in the classroom to use this technology. Many have access to technology today, but few have the option of technology like this to be used as a learning tool. I am now able to show them how to use a laptop as a tool for research, learning, and practice - instead of just entertainment.
My students are most excited to use the laptops for some of the interactive learning activities that we use in class.
Many before were unable to participate because they did not have technology of their own - or their technology was limited in its use. Now they can all get immediate feedback on what they know in a way that is exciting for them.
Those who are visual learners and those who learn by doing benefit the most from having this technology in the classroom. It also allows us to differentiate our instruction to better serve the individual needs of each student.
