My Students

I have 30 amazing 6th grade students! They are smart and ready to learn. I believe that school should be fun and work hard to create challenging and engaging lessons.

I'm passionate about reading and want to ignite this passion in my students.

I believe the best way to do this is to get as many great books in the hands of my students.

I love hearing my students talk to me about their favorite books! It's even better when they recommend great books to each other.

My Project

"The Lighting Thief" by Rick Riordan is a great book, that kids love to read. I would love to have a class set to enhance Shared Reading time. Being able to read this novel as a class will allow us to have great discussions and increase our reading comprehension.

Ancient Greece is part of our Social Studies Core and this book brings Greek Mythology to life.

Kids love the characters and become invested in learning more.

"The Lighting Thief" is the first book in the series, so kids will want to read all the books to find out what happens to the beloved characters. This is the perfect book for igniting the passion to read. I also added "The Heroes of Olympus" for the same reason. It's the sequel series to "The Lighting Thief" and I know my students will excited to read these books too.
