Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low, socio-economic households. Many of them rent rooms or apartments with multiple families. All of my students are second language learners. My school has 100% free breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
My students are so excited and enthusiastic about coming to school to learn.
They eagerly read books and discuss them with classmates. Writing is done everyday, and they love to share out in the author's chair. We need more resources so that students can get to grade level.
My Project
My students need more materials for social studies and writing. They are below grade level, and having writing materials and journals for them to use daily will help practice their writing skills.
They will become explorers using the Grab and Play Social Studies Game and Ready to Write prompts!
I have limited supplies for social studies. Having these new materials will help improve my class and help many classes to come. I teach two blocks of 2nd grade so these supplies will help 48 students. Using the hands on map will strengthen their knowledge of the United States. The interactive supply and demand game will give them skills to last a lifetime.
