Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As we readjust to school life, after the pandemic shutting down our school for over a year, we have students who have lacked social and emotional connections. This is a challenging time for all students and their families. Our students continue to express feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and full of worry, even as the world returns to "normal."
Our behavior team spends countless hours developing, creating, planning, and designing visual supports and social narratives to help our students.
We need Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to be able to purchase these tools (to help students understand social situations, learn calming strategies and how to regulate their bodies and minds) so students can immediately have access to these materials and not wait, in distress, for similar tools to be created! Not all kids learn through verbal teaching and redirection... many need to process requests, directions, their feelings, and their needs visually. Since each child is an individual - their support must also be individualized. While we love creating materials, it takes many hours - time that we do not have, due to the level of trauma, behavior, and support for which our students need us by their sides. We need a way to access the materials we need immediately so we can help our students build skills for success. These Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will allow us to purchase materials to immediately print and support our students. There are incredible social-emotional resources on Teachers Pay Teachers, made by teachers for students. Time is precious, and our students need these tools to succeed right away!
