Hi there! Thank you for considering a donation to my project! My resource room is in need of some social skills games and relationship building items. Social skills consist of various life skills required to successfully be a part of society. Some of my students are on the autism spectrum and others continue to struggle with empathy, conflict resolution, conversations, and so on, especially after the pandemic.
It is my hope that teaching social skills through structured games will help develop an awareness of critical life skills in students and empower them to take charge of their own life.
We frequently discuss the meaning of success in my room and with that, we also discuss the skills that make someone successful. These skills include compassion, kindness, empathy, conflict resolution, sharing, listening, collaborating, working as a team, and so on. Many times, my students will say a word or two when working as a team, and get frustrated when asked to say more!
Therefore, it is my hope that teaching through games will ignite a spark of engagement and the desire to want to say more - and to have some fun! Again, thank you so much for your consideration of my project and supporting me and my students. Without you, my students would not have the opportunity to experience learning life skills in a fun, yet meaningful manner!
