My students need an additional safe space outside their classroom. To help make my room feel extra safe, I am asking for an essential oil diffusor, extra oils, light filters, and a big lamp.
I am a School Counselor at a Title I Elementary School. I work with all grades in my building, kindergarten-fifth grade students. The students I serve come from different ranges of income, with a lot being considered a low social-economic status. A good portion of my students are also military connected. Being a School Counselor, I focus a lot on the social-emotional needs with all students.
What I love about my students is all the fun characteristics and personalities they bring; together as a building it makes a school family.
It's amazing how much growth I see in a lot of my students in a school year. A lot have challenges at home, but yet they come to school and build resiliency skills.
My Project
This project will help create a calm, relaxing space in my classroom. The light filters will be used on the lights on the ceiling. Currently the lights are too bright and it signals too much energy in some of my students. Also to help with lighting and to continue giving a relaxing environment, the lamp will help give it that tone.
My essential oil diffuser will help regulate a lot of my students' emotions.
Some of my students have a hard time regulating their emotions, hence how vital social emotioal learning is in all students and all ages. All these items will help my students be able to learn social/emotional, academic, and career skills!
