Appropriate social skills are an important life skill that all children should be able to access.
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who works with middle and high school age students.
The high school I currently work in was recently damaged in a tornado. All of my materials were destroyed. The students I work with have a wide range of abilities and interests. Social skills are something my students can use across all settings - social, academic, community. I like to teach a variety of social skills through the use of games. Most of my students don't even realize they are learning while getting to play a game!
My Project
I am requesting a variety of educational games to play with my students during individual and group social skills training. While playing games students learn a variety of social skills - topic maintenance, eye contact, using proper names, asking and answering questions, spatial relations, social exchanges, etc.
This project is important to me because I believe social skills are an important life skill that my students will use after they graduate school.
Teaching this basic skill will enable my students to appropriately interact within the community.
