Help me give my students skills which will help them deal with the effects of trauma or adverse events in their lives. The books and games will help introduce topics and practice skills.

My Students

All of my students have met the qualifications for Exceptional Student Education or Special Education. I work with students who are 5 and 6 years old. Their needs are in one or more of the following areas: Social Emotional Skills/Behavior, phonemic awareness, phonics, writing, math, communication, occupational and physical therapy, and daily living/toileting.

My Project

Many of my students have traumatic histories (or current living situations) filled with neglect and/or abuse. I work with students on everything from listening skills and manners to processing traumatic events so that they can cope with every day disappointments and stresses, make friends and be able to participate and access learning in the general education setting.

The books will introduce topics and assist me in getting students to recognize and talk about their feelings.

The games will assist us in practicing and discussing our new skills. The books I chose cover many topics within the social emotional umbrella to meet all needs.
