My students need games - Sorry, Taboo, Battleship, Trouble and more - to play during lunch to learn how to successfully interact with one another and to be able to destress from their intensive academic work during the remainder of the school day.
Our school is in the wonderful and full-of-life neighborhood of Long Island City, Queens. Queens in one of the most diverse places in the world and our students represent that. We have students from a multitude of cultural backgrounds and we celebrate each other and that diversity here.
Our students are intelligent, kind, caring, curious, energetic, reflective and so many more amazing qualities, this list barely scratches the surface.
We are so excited to be able to begin to get this program funded. Thank you to all who help!
My Project
Our school plans to allow students to borrow the games we are requesting during their lunch period.
Research shows that games can provide an opportunity for students to hone skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, negotiation, delegation and even empathy.
They also provide an outlet for stress relief amidst the rigorous academics they encounter throughout the rest of the day.
We need games - Sorry, Taboo, Battleship, Trouble and more - to play during lunch to learn how to successfully interact with one another and to be able to destress from their intensive academic work during the remainder of the school day. We seek to use these games to improve school culture and climate and allow our students the space to enjoy them and create bonds with other students. We so appreciate any contribution you can make to these efforts.
