My Students

Imagine 623 students with different backgrounds, life experiences, worries, fears, and successes. That's my students; a whole school of fantastic kids with a variety of social and emotional needs---that are now facing the impact of COVID-19.

The students at my school do their personal best to be resilient and strong, and the impact of COVID-19 is putting them to the test!

They are struggling like never before with feelings of anxiety, concern over personal safety, and heightened stress. Our students need for social and emotional support has increased significantly over the past year and a half with the uncertainty of COVID-19.

My Project

The materials requested will help me deliver a robust social-emotional program that addresses increased anxiety, and trauma-related behaviors related to COVID-19.

Each resource requested will help me create a toolbox of coping skills for students that are struggling to make sense of difficult times.

The children's books will be an invaluable resource for providing bibliotherapy. The games, counselor manuals, and white boards are vital to developing lessons with variety, which increases student engagement during individual and group counseling, classroom-wide lessons, and even online learning. I am especially excited about the Growth Mindset and Who Moved My Cheese resources that will help me teach our school population that sometimes things don't go as planned--and that's okay. We're strong, and resilient, and we move forward! Lastly, the kindness posters will provide strong reminders school-wide to contribute to a positive school culture despite negativity they may observe in the community.
