Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our School is located in Northwest Denver, in proximity to one of the city's largest housing projects. Our school is in a lower socioeconomic neighborhood that is transitioning in northwest Denver. The students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with more than ninety percent receiving free or a reduced price lunch. These kids are creative, hard-working, smart, loving and dedicated. They are like sponges who are ready and eager to soak up all this world has to offer!
My Project
These books and games will allow students to connect with characters and stories, and allow them to grow a deeper understanding about the feelings and emotions they are having. These materials will be used as a resource to help support students in their social and emotional development. The books will provide rich text and opportunities for students to make connections and stay engaged with lessons that are working to strengthen their social and emotional awareness. The games will allow students to learn how to work with others and give them an opportunity to express themselves and share more about who they are.
