Social Emotional Library for Today's Challenges and Tomorrow's Leaders!

My Students

I have had an amazing first 5 months getting to learn all about my new elementary school students. They are resilient and thoughtful and caring. All ask daily if they are coming to my lunch groups! I have students who have lost parents, who are in DCF custody, who live full time with grandparents/aunts and uncles. I have students who need school to have balance and caring in their life and I have students who are so apprehensive about attending they struggle to get ready in the morning. My students and I are learning strategies to address anxiety, stress, frustration, peer social concerns, self-worth, negativity, family stressors, focus, tenacity and self-identity.

These kids have missed school so much and they just want the community and social connections that they have been denied these last few years.

My Project

I inherited a very incomplete and outdated social-emotional library to address the needs of my students. I am hoping for your support! With these books I will be able to teach my students strategies and build their emotional wellness and trust in our school community. Through the characters in these books students will see their own and others' diversity reflected in their world.

These books will allow my students to have words to express their emotions and the challenges they are facing in their lives.

They will learn the value of their own differences and how to overcome their challenges to be the best version of themselves they can be. And with these stories we can have fun along the way!
