Help me give my students comfortable seating with a Hokki Plus Stool and cushions while playing social/emotional games to help them overcome bullying and learn how to deal with their emotions.
My students are resilient. Resiliency is the best word to describe my students as they are warriors. Many of my students live in poverty and sometimes their most basic needs are not met, but they still come to school beaming with joy and eagerness to learn, which makes them the most resilient children. I am amazed at the things they tell me they are or have overcome in their life, making me feel very grateful to support their lives. They are so artistic and expressive and blow me away with the amount of knowledge and thoughts they have in their brains. They are our future leaders and I am so lucky to be surrounded by them every day of the week.
My Project
The Hokki Plus Adjustable Stool will benefit children who suffer from attention and hyperactivity concerns. The stool would be used as an intervention to help the child practice appropriately sitting in a non-typical chair to then help in future experiences having to stay still for long periods of time.
Educating children and their parents through social book stories to help them understand how to help their child with emotions such as handling disappointments.
Having the "emotion face cushions" for children to sit on during a group activity talking about emotions will help to encourage them to think and understand more about their emotions and have a daily visual to remember each emotion.
Role-playing through use of the board games requested such as the "Friends and Neighbors: The Helping Game" to teach social skills about being kind in a group or individually.
The use of the puppet such as the Turtle to talk about the social/emotional lesson about "Tucker the Turtle" and how to go in one's shell to deal with feelings and come out of the shell to figure out a solution to their problems.
Through the use of using the Play-Doh, and LEGOs will help with the interventions of helping ease children to be more comfortable to talk about scary events that have happened in their life in order to help decrease negative reactions and help to boost children's confidence through the use of activities that feel comfortable to them.
The "white sand" is used for Sand Tray therapy which is a therapeutic intervention that is best for children who struggle to open up with words that then helps them to use their words through play interactions.
My hope is that with all of these materials the children can learn how to effectively communicate their needs and increase.
