My students need resources to help them in their social and emotional learning. We need a diverse library of books in which these SEL strategies and tools are shown with mirrors similar to themselves.
I have a classroom with a variety of social and emotional needs. In my room we have a community of 22 learners that come from a variety of backgrounds from various socioeconomic statuses, family dynamics, and cultures.
Our classroom is a unique group of learners with differing needs academically and emotionally.
I have students in my classroom who are bilingual, altogether we bring three different languages through our classroom door. I have several students who receive special education services, math intervention and LLI interventions to supplement their daily academics.
My Project
My students need social emotional learning strategies and tools. These strategies and tools will be incorporated in the classroom through a diverse library of books and resources.
Their social and emotional wellness are strategies and tools they need to capitalize on inside and outside of our classroom walls.
With these book titles, curriculum, and mindfulness cards I can utilize authentic models to teach my students life skills they need to be their best selves. I would provide mindfulness to my students on a daily basis to allow for grounded learning and build on my current social emotional learning. These resources will also be shared with my first grade team allowing for consistency and growth as a grade level.
