This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My PreK students come from a high poverty community! We are located in the inner city of Baltimore City and have 500 students in our school. Students in PreK are at a disadvantage with the amount of math and language arts materials.
PreK is the time for students to become engaged in learning and learn how to be creators, explorers, artists, dreamers, scholars, heroes and world changers.
My students are actively engaged every day in purposeful play to learn about the world around them and how to change it!
My Project
Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

With these books, I will be able to effectively teach students social and emotional skills that they can practice in a safe place (at school) as well as take these skills home and use them in their community!
