Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching kindergarten for 21 years. I teach at a Title I school where a lot of students receive a reduced-price or free lunch. Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are several different languages spoken at my school. Many of the students are English language learners, speaking English as their second language. I have 26 kindergarten students this school year.
My kindergarten students are eager and excited to come to school every day.
They are ready to learn, play, and make new friends! Some of my students do not have access to learning materials at home. I would like to make sure they receive many opportunities while at school.
My Project
In the past two years, students have experienced many drastic changes due to the pandemic. With all of these changes, students have had to deal with different emotions. I would like to help teach students about all of these emotions and how to understand what emotions they are feeling.
Through these amazing A Little SPOT books that I have requested, I will be able to take the time to help my students learn about all the different emotions they can feel, how to identify their own emotions, and how to recognize them in their peers!
Being able to understand and express emotions in a productive way will help every child succeed in their life.
