Help me give my students these books about kindness and mindfulness, candy, reward stickers, stress balls and SEL curriculum books to enhance social emotional awareness in my second grade classroom.
My school's population is made up of a diverse group. We have such an amazing community of family, teachers, neighbors, and friends.
This new way of learning, has our students feeling brand new emotions and feelings.
Sensitivity is heightened and many are feeling the stress of the pandemic. I am hoping that these rewards, toys, treats, and social emotional learning tools will help all of my strong and brave second graders.
My students are my priority. From 8:00-3:00, I have the privilege of being their mommy, doctor, nurse, counselor, coach, and more. I am so lucky to have such wonderful students. My students want to be here. They work hard and appreciate our wonderful school. We are a Title I school and more than 75% of our students are from low-income households, so anything you can do to help is appreciated beyond measure.
Due to the mix of virtual learning and in-person, I have a difficult time preparing now for the most fun, engaging math, stem, and maker projects!! I am eager to get some new materials, in order to provide my students with more hands-on learning fun.
My Project
These social emotional learning books, books about mindfulness, treats and rewards and stickers will help me to roll out a more advanced social-emotional learning curriculum in my second grade classroom.
Social-Emotional Learning has always been important, but now, during this pandemic, it is essential.
I will use these curriculum books to educate myself on SEL practices and I will use the children's books for read alouds. The stickers and treats will serve as motivators and rewards for acts of kindness.
February will focus on Acts of Kindness and I'd love to have some treats to reinforces positive choices.
