Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a school counselor at a junior high.

The students at my school are compassionate, team players, and believe in constant learning.

Each day is a new day full of many learning experiences. The pandemic made it difficult for many of our students to socialize and experience what was like being a student. For example, my 8th graders went from being 6th graders to now 8th graders. I am very proud of my students because even with all the changes they had to go through during this pandemic they have done a fantastic job transitioning back to in person learning. Watching them play during lunch and hearing their laughs brings joy to me. They are my inspiration!

My Project

The struggle has been real for staff members and especially for our students transitioning from long distance learning to in person learning. The pandemic created not only a learning loss academically but also socially and emotionally. Our current 8th grade students transitioned from being 6th graders to now 8th graders. Along the road they missed out many experiences. The social-emotional learning activities and the extra resources that I am requesting for the counseling office will help add a layer of support to all students at MJHS that need it.

The counseling office is in need of more activities and resources available to students. These items will promote social-emotional learning to all students that need support.
