This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a high poverty school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are thoughtful and enthusiastic learners.

They come to class each day eager to see their school family and tackle academic challenges. I am constantly amazed by their ingenuity and desire to be better than they were yesterday.

In my classroom, we focus on becoming learners, not just learning material. Hopefully, the skills they acquire are ones that will benefit them throughout their academic journey.

My Project

It was not until after students came back to our classroom that I realized what supplies we truly needed for this school year. While we have trays to keep personal supplies in, those have quickly become disarrayed. Pencils, loose paper, and other items are strewn about haphazardly.

The more organized our personal supplies are, the more smoothly our days will go.

The binders can store loose paper and pencil pouches. If we had dry erase markers, students could write their answers on whiteboards to hold up eliminating the need for the me to walk to each desk to check work. Mask lanyards would make lunch and mask breaks (outside!) much simpler.

My hope is for this school year to be as "normal" and calm as possible. These supplies would go a long way towards making that goal a reality.
