My classroom is a special needs preschool classroom within a small school in a rural, farming community. The classroom is a loving, busy, and ever-changing environment. I have an energetic and eager bunch of 3-year olds who are ready to learn. My students have a variety of specific needs such as autism, speech, fine motor, sensory, behavioral, and developmental delays. We spend our days learning what we need to be ready for kindergarten and how to live functional lives.
Everything we learn at school we take in with all of our senses.
We are so eager to learn how to be independent through life and play skills we engage in at school. Our classroom requires that all our materials meet a variety of student needs and developmental levels. When the learning my students do is meaningful to them, it sticks with them in amazing ways.
My Project
As we plan to go back to school it will be a little different this year. Please consider helping out with a few supplies to make this easier. These tools could also be used at home if necessary. Students will need individual bins, pouches, and materials to keep everyone safe from germs. It's going to be a task to teach children with and without special needs to social distance, and these materials will help us.
