My students are kindergarten movers who are constantly on the go. They are kinesthetic learners and always ready to move.
I am updating centers and making them more social-centered to ensure social success is capable in our classroom!
“Dramatic play is a time when they break through the walls of reality, pretend to be someone or something different from themselves and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. While this may seem unimportant to some, it remains an integral part of the developmental learning process by allowing children to develop skills in such areas as abstract thinking, literacy, math, and social studies, in a timely, natural manner (Cecchini MS: How Dramatic Play can Enhance Learning 2017).” According to Doris Bergen: The Role of Pretend Play in Children’s Cognitive Development, there is evidence that shows clear links between pretend play and social and linguistic competence.
Funding for my project will help meet the needs of my kindergarteners: differentiation to maximize the learning experience.
I am very excited about this change and hope to see a very eager class ready to engage in learning more than ever before.
My Project
Social skills in primary ages are vital in ensuring students succeed not only in academics but in daily life - which will affect them for the rest of their lives! By providing centers for students to choose in my classroom, we are ensuring they will succeed in life!
Students will be able to pick between the art center, library, kitchen and writing center!
Our writing center will also be used for our para to use as a teaching tool during our tier/MTSS time.
