My Project

The project is for high school special education students who haven't had the opportunity to work on their social/transition skills due to COVID-19. This population of students tends to learn better when it comes to differentiated instruction. Having these transition games that will increase our students' abilities to understand social-emotional learning (themselves and others), what to do in the community, understanding money in different ways as well as being able to think through difficult situations that may come up in their daily life. These are crucial for student success.

The requested resources will directly impact the students on increasing their skills on how to interact in an appropriate social level not only on campus but also in the community.

It will give the students who need to learn in different forms the ability to understand empathy, manners, handling difficult situations in the community, improving social communication and well as teaching them transitional skills at the same time.

You will see that there are money packs and an allowance game that places a part in understand how to have functional skills in the community in every day interactions with people like purchasing items at the store and knowing who to socially interact with those in each setting. Having tangible games and items for the students to manipulate is important in their learning and growth. All the mentioned skills they would be learning is necessary in close the gap in current skills due to the break of in person learning because of COVID-19.
