By the end of the year, my goal is for my students to love learning, be independent readers, and realize the potential they have to offer the world!
My students are very energetic special needs students from Kindergarten, First and Second Grade.
I have students with a variety of backgrounds and learning experiences in my classroom and each student presents unique needs and challenges. Most of them are performing below academic standards and have to work very hard just to keep up. My goal is to help them learn in a way that is fun and engaging!
Many of my students look forward to coming to a safe, nurturing environment at school. We are a Title I school and a large number of our students receive free or reduced-cost lunch or other Title I services.
My Project
One of the most important areas of instruction I provide to my students is that of social and life skills. For many of the special needs students, I work with this does not come naturally. They need direct instruction and even hands-on practice to learn how to manage frustrations, interact with others and proper behaviors. Having these books and games about social skills will really help me provide the best instruction I can in these areas!
The Magna Tiles will provide a chance for students to practice working with others as they will be given some free time to build with them and practice the skills that have been learned.
These tiles are multi-functional as I will also use them for learning shapes in math and how magnets work in science.
