SoBoCo Middle School Reading Workshop #bookadaychallenge
My students need a variety of high-interest "read-aloud" texts which teach important historical and current events, and which include strong themes and messages to translate to their own lives.

My Students
I am excited to be working with middle school students as a Reading Interventionist this school year!
My students are middle-schoolers who need additional support to get them to reach their goal of being on-grade-level readers.
These are students who have an opportunity through my classroom to receive small-group and one-on-one instruction and support in the area of reading.
Our goal in the classroom is to strengthen our reading comprehension skills, but also to develop deeper connections with texts, and hopefully instill in students the desire to read for pleasure and enjoyment!
My Project
In our classroom this year, we will be completing the "book a day" reading challenge. The goal is to get students exposed to as many texts as possible! I would like to purchase a wide variety of "picture books" to read aloud to my students each day. Since I teach middle school, I have tried to find a selection of reading material that incorporates strong themes and lessons learned from the fictional stories, which can then be compared and contrasted to the lengthier reading material we will also cover in class. I also would like to purchase several "picture books" that are informational, and will expose students to topics and historical figures to hopefully provide them with new learning in a wide range of topics.
