I teach students who participate in a free breakfast and lunch program. Many of my students come from single-parent homes and have a hard time just bringing in school supplies. Many of these students have to help take care of their siblings both before and after school while their parent is working or attending school.
My students are from a variety of backgrounds and have various learning styles.
My classroom is made up of both regular and special education students. They often come into school eager to learn and love to use technology.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in school. I want my students to be informed citizens and be able to have the use of technology in the classroom on a daily basis. I want my students to have technology experiences that help foster twenty-first-century critical thinkers.
Technology is used daily around the world. Why not use it daily in 4th grade? My students need access to technology to learn about the world around them and be able to access educational sites that we use in the classroom for ELA and Social Studies. They need to be able to have information at their finger tips that many other students have who have 1:1 classrooms. We are not there yet in our district. With two iPads to share, my students can enhance their learning in the classroom and improve the skills needed to be 21st Century learners. Help us soar!
