My students need dry erase boards to visualize what they are learning. Drawing or seeing illustrations or photographs helps them to learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever traveled to a foreign country and did not speak the language of that country? My students are need illustrations and photographs to help them to understand the concepts that are being presented to them. Dri erase boards are the best tools to help my students learn.
I teach in a small suburb in MI.
Many of my students are English Language Learners and need additional support in the classroom to learn as their first language is Spanish. I use a variety of strategies and materials to help these wonderful children learn but cannot always provide everything that they need. I plan on tutoring a group of students this year but need additional dri erase boards to help them when we do small group activities.
My Project
The large dry erase board and smaller boards will help me to provide the best opportunities for my students to see the photographs, and illustrations that I use when I teach different concepts. The saying is "A picture is worth a thousand words" and this is definitely true with my students especially my English Language Learners. These ELL students cannot make the crucial linguistic connections without being given further information. Sometimes when presenting new vocabulary words, I need to draw a picture or show a photograph for my students to understand what the word means. Graphic organizers and other visual aids are essential tools for all students but are necessary elements in any lesson that introduces new words or concepts. This past summer, I spent a great deal of time and money working with these children in order that they maintain their current level of reading skills. Having a Dry erase board that is also magnetic will open up so many new learning opportunities for my students
My student's success in gaining the necessary reading and writing skills is the driving force behind all that I do at my school.
I want these students who come from not only economically disadvantaged households but have language challenges as well, to have the same opportunities to become productive citizens as any child in America. I plan on doing whatever is necessary to reach that goal and having the materials to do so will make that goal a reality.
