My Students

My students are SCIENCE LOVING 5th graders. Since science in 5th grade is a tested area, we try to get as much hands on learning as we can. Being Title 1, my students do not get many opportunities to do so outside of my room. They come from many diverse backgrounds. My students are willing to learn and love taking science home to enjoy with their family. I make sure they get to use the scientific method in our room every day. They learn the best by doing hands on activities and experiments. My daily goal is to open their eyes to experiences they have never seen before.

My Project

My students will be completing an entire Space Unit and Earth Unit. Having resources like a solar powered robot, a LED planetarium and resource books will assist greatly in instruction. The books chosen for this project will give the kids realistic visuals and extra information for them to read. The solar powered objects are going to show the strength of what our sun can do and its importance to our planet, along with endless robotics activities.

The key to science in 5th grade is ENGAGEMENT!!

The more hands on activities and visuals I can give my kids, the greater they will learn and the smaller the gaps will be! The rock kits, solar system inflatables, and illuminating items will be a fabulous addition to our science exploration room!
