Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The student-athletes at our school are extremely competitive. If given the opportunity they will surpass any obstacle presented to them. However, much support is needed. As a teacher and coach at our middle school, we hold them accountable for their grades as well as being successful on the court.
My goal is to not only help my student-athletes be successful in the classroom but also on the court.
I have seen other opponent athletes with sound fundamentals in which they participate. One could assume they are working with outside teams to better themselves. I want our athletes to have access to equipment that would allow them to compete on a much higher level. My student-athletes deserve the opportunity to be the best.
My Project
We are requesting sports equipment. The vertical challenger allows the athletes to have a starting point for the vertical jump. This measurement will tell where a student is and then allow her to set a goal. Throughout the season my athletes will work on drills to help improve it and reach those goals. When an athlete has great vertical abilities she'll make better contact with the ball while in air.
We would use the volley pal and set rite during individual drills to train fundamentals.
The foundation to all sports is fundamentals. Doing them alone is when you sharpen those skills.
