My Students
My students are resilient members of our high school track and field team. The students’ commitment to the track program is unparalleled. More athletes participate in track and field than any other sport at our school.
Our track and field athletes compete with the heart of a champion every time they walk on the track.
Over the past ten years, in addition to nine team region championships (five girls and four boys) these athletes have won numerous regional and state honors in track. This past track season, one of my athletes won the Class A State Championship in the shot-put field event. Our high school is located in a small rural community where more than 90% of the students qualify for free and reduced price lunch.
My Project
We need a premier pole vault standards and poles that that will allow our athletes to participate in the pole vault event. Recently our school received through Donorschoose.org a state-of-the-art pole vault pit. but not the associated equipment that would allow our athletes to compete in the event. As a small rural Class A school with limited resources our athletes do not have the opportunities to compete in the pole vault event during competition.
The funding of this project will give our athletes the opportunities to be exposed to and compete in the pole vault event during competition.
The funding of this project will be the final action in giving our track and field athletes an opportunity to compete in all events during track and field competitions. We will be the first school in our region to offer pole vault as an event during competition thus exposing other athletes to the event.
Having a state-of-the-art pole vault pit and associated equipment will encourage our students to compete with a heart of a champion at all times. In addition to my returning track athletes. several new athletes have expressed the desire to participate in track and field in the the pole vault event.
The associated equipment include the pole vault standards, base pads, crossbars , safety max box, and pole vault poles. Also included in this project are items used to mark safety perimeters for some of the field events during track and field competitions.
