My Students

My students are 97 fantastic and intelligent kids from the NYC area. They come from various cultural backgrounds and languages, creating a truly unique and diverse classroom.

Many of my students are new to this country and struggle with reading and writing, especially with meeting the Common Core Standards.

These students are quiet and introverted, afraid to even speak. Many students are being raised in single parent households and are currently in a Title I school due to their economic status. These situations, unfortunately, have prevented them from getting ahead early in life and have not provided them with the life experiences many of us see "typical." However, from the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. Since many lack access to technology in the home, I am motivated to provide these tools for them even more.

My 10 and 11 year old students need stimulating and enthralling academic exposures in order to help solidify the content they are learning.

My Project

I am seeking funds to bring Chromebooks into our classroom. With these basic learning tools, I will be able to bridge the gap between what the students need and what they lack in their homes. My students will be able to access websites such as Pearson Realize and complete research for essays, which will enable them to achieve a higher-level learning. Chromebooks would help students who are kinesthetic and visual learners. It would open the doors of knowledge and individualize their unique learning experiences.

The Chromebook will become an indispensable tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom, as well as build 21st century skills that our children need in order to be successful in our quickly evolving technological world.

My students would be able to work in centers with the Chromebook, writing, reading, and so much more. A whole new world of learning will open up for them. As they create both independent and collaborative projects, I will be able to monitor their progress in understanding each new concept. The cases will help the computers last longer and protect them from becoming damaged.

Without consistent access to modern technology, my students will not be able to compete with other students who have these tools. I don’t want my students to be held back because of a lack of funds. I am trying my best to provide for my students in any way that I can. Will you help me do that?
