This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is about as diverse as it comes. There are students from unique backgrounds and some who are new to the country. We learn so much from each other everyday. We are an Arts infused school so not only do we incorporate vocal music, visual arts, and dance/drama into our day but we also work on reading, writing, and science.
We focus on building positive relationships with each other and these students are truly kind to each other.
Their passion for learning and excitement each day is what every teacher hopes for. We are a family and love to learn and play together everyday.
We have been separated right now to our current social distancing climate but I am hopeful that when we are allowed to be back at school together, these materials will help use stay grounded and calm.
My Project
I know that we are in a time of uncertainty right now, and that can cause some worry and anxiety in our littlest learners. I want to have these materials when we are finally back together and students are needing more sensory resources or a way to calm.
I am lucky to work at a school where I have a sensory bin in my classroom.
I want to have tools to fill that bin for students to use that will not only help them learn but will also help them calm and get centered.
