My school is a Title I school in a rural county. The students out here do not get as much exposure to the arts as children that live in more metropolitan areas. One reason for this lack of exposure is the distance, the other reason is that their families just don't have the disposable income that would allow for a family to visit museums and theaters. However, the kids come to school because they are eager to learn. Through community, collaboration, creativity, and communication I teach them with enthusiasm.
My Project
My students love coming to art class but they get even more excited when they get to paint or use markers! They get even more excited when they can smell their markers... All of my k-5 art classes will get to use the smelly markers that I am requesting.
My art students actually illustrate better craftsmanship when using new markers.
Therefore, when possible I try to put out new markers when we start this tessellation lesson inspired by MC Escher.
The younger students will enjoy using the the markers for warm color/cool color lesson that we call Hot Dogs and Cool Cats. So, thanks again for your generosity!
