Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am working at a wonderful but underfunded district school in the Bronx. Many of my students get a lot of their basic needs met at school. For example, the whole school qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch. My students are excited and nervous about learning math, as so many of them have had such a broad range of math education experiences.
Our students are extremely hard-working, and I have seen this school create a community that feels like an extended family.
Students are encouraged to correct mistakes and learn from each other. My school is a very special place with a lot of needs.
My Project
We are all feeling uncertain about what going back to school might look like, but we are committed to making sure we do as much as possible to help keep our students safe at school. One thing is for sure, students will need access to disinfecting products to keep our classroom environment clean.
We usually help all students have the supplies they need to be successful in school, and this year that will include cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer.
Having a supply of hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, and disinfecting sprays to use at school will make us all feel safer about our potential return to the building.
