Help me give my students a whiteboard table. This table will help minimize transitions, allow students to show their work and engage students in various learning activities.
My students come from diverse economic and racial backgrounds. My students are kindergarteners, first and second graders who attend a small school of about 300 students. Our school is located in an urban, mostly low income area.
My students are active, energetic learners who require multisensory instruction across content areas.
In order to meet the needs of all students and keep students engaged, I must use a variety of instructional tools and materials that provide students with hands-on, tactile learning opportunities. My students learn best when provided with multiple learning opportunities that allow them to have hands on experiences.
My Project
In my classroom, we use whiteboards on a daily basis for both math and language arts activities. Whiteboards allow me to monitor students thought processes by seeing exactly what the students are doing. Whiteboards also provide an easy place for students to show and share their work. When using the whiteboards, however, more transitions are required during our typical 30 minute sessions. Valuable instruction time is lost while passing out whiteboards, gathering materials, etc. While many of my students have difficulties with attention, this process can become even more prolonged. With a whiteboard table, transition time would be minimized, instruction time would be maximized and students would be able to show and share their work and without having to leave their seats.
A whiteboard table is a low-tech tool that will allow me to encourage communication and engage students in collaboration and informal information sharing.
By donating to our project, you will help improve the quantity of instructional time by minimizing transitions as well as allowing students easy access to a tool with which they can easily share and show their work.
