This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Faced with many challenges, but still eager to learn and succeed. This statement sums up students who are attend our school. Located in Riverdale, GA, a low income area in Clayton County, our scholars face many issues and challenges before arriving to school. When they enter our school, they feel safe, secure, and welcomed. Their bright faces light up to see adults that are encouraging them to always put their best foot forward and never give up. Once arriving to school, our scholars know there are no excuses for failure because they were born to succeed.
My Project
Personal hygiene among children is considered as the best tool to improve community strategies and intervention practices to tackle the many communicable and infectious diseases. However, some students do not have the necessary tools such as soap, deodorant, toothpaste, and other hygiene tools at home to tackle such issues. Having these products available at school in a Care Pantry will help our students feel so fresh and so clean while they are in school among their peers. Having these products will decrease students being teased or bullied due to hygiene issues. Having these products available at school will allow students to feel self-confident, knowing that we, as a school community, care about their education, as well as, their personal well being.
