Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Collaborative Special Education teacher so my students are faced with numerous challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. They are a fantastic group that require accommodations to access the general curriculum.
My caseload serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, speech and language delays, specific learning disabilities, visual impairments, other health impairments, and autism spectrum disorders.
This year, my caseload manages fifth graders in two classrooms, they require tools that will help them form great academic habits.
My Project
In order for students to be effective learners, they need to attend school as often as possible. It is a FACT that one culprit that will result in a student's absence is illness.
The purpose of this classroom basics project is to keep a germ-free and clean classroom environment to assist in preventing student illness.
I am requesting daily cleaning products (such as disinfectant wipes), sanitation products (disinfectant spray, paper towels), and good hygiene practices (using baby wipes and hand sanitizer). The materials that this project will provide will allow students to come to school more often and get sick less.
The classroom will also maintain a fresh and clean appearance through mess-prevention practices. This project will also allow the students to take pride in the area in which they learn. For example, rather than making a mess when they snack at their desktops, students can be offered paper plates, spoons, and disposable cups to keep learning areas crumb-free.
